On the main conference day, the last topic for the plenary symposium is "Clinical issues". The basis for this symposium is Patterson & Forgatch's (2010) chapter "Expanding the Coercion Model" published in E. Befring, I. Frønes & M.-A. Sørlie (Eds.), Sårbare unge. Nye perspektive og utfordringer (Young and vulnerable; New perspectives andapproaches) (pp. 168-179). Oslo, Norway: Gyldendal Akademisk (2010).
This chapter extends the coercion model by specifying five structural changes that emerge when families engage in habitual and extended coercive interaction. Four of these structural changes that contribute to maintain or prevent resistance to therapeutic change will be illustrated by videos of roleplays. The chapter and the roleplays will be the basis of the discussions in this last section.
